Magical Montagu is a 4 days, 3-night adventure filled with hiking, great food and local wine. Our guests really enjoy the Montagu Magic experience because it combines these 3 factors: luxurious accommodation, fabulous hikes with wonderful views and back roads, and delicious food and wine. 

The price includes 3 nights’ luxury stay at In Abundance, all meals, wine at dinners, 3 guided walks with your guide, Marchelle, all excursions, permits, special tours and events, wine tasting, town tour, a Montagu muscadel tasting and a few surprises along the way.

Day 1               2:30pm Arrival & Check in

4pm Town Tour with your hiking host, Marchelle (+/- 3km) & Drinks

Day 2               Kogmanskloof Contour Hike                                    Distance: +/- 12 km

7am Today’s hike takes you high above Montagu to have a view of the town and spectacular Klein Karoo landscapes. You’ll see Donkerkloof, Bloupunt, Kogmanskloof and views of Kogmanskloof buttress and the rest of the Langeberge. Be prepared for a steep ascent to get to the top. But it is so worth it.

Day 3               “Back roads” along the Langeberge                        Distance: +/- 15km

7am Today we explore the natural wonders of the Langeberge. It is here where the Cape fynbos, renosterveld and succulent Karoo biomes meet with a backdrop of the Langeberg mountain range and local farmland.

Lunch will be enjoyed at a local farm including a farm tour of their special setup and produce.

Surprise performance before dinner

Optional:  massages, shopping and exploration of the town. (Massages to be booked in advance)

Day 4  

8:30am Leisurely Breakfast at In Abundance
10am Departure & optional hikes or extend your time in Montagu and linger longer

Food & Wine 

Our guests really enjoy the Montagu Magic experience because it combines these 3 factors: luxurious accommodation, fabulous hikes with wonderful views and back roads, and the other highlight is definitely the cuisine. 

We have a great resident chef who prepares our delicious meals and who caters to any dietary requirements. She prepares our scrumptious, healthy meals with only the best ingredients, free range and local produce to make sure you are in for a treat. 

Dinner is served every night at In Abundance where everyone dines together. When you have a group of friends sharing the house, you can also choose a different dress code for each night if you want to spice it up. Dinner is complemented with wines from the region. 

Breakfast is a picnic packed meal which is enjoyed on the hiking trail with a cup of coffee. 

One of our lunches is a surprise stop along the way where you will enjoy the farm’s fresh produce and the other one is served at a beautiful local restaurant. This viby restaurant with its breath taking views on the Langeberge is the backdrop where you will enjoy platters of local charcuterie, olives and cheese combined with a wine tasting of award winning local wines. 

Other taste bud adventures include a welcome Muskadel tasting and cocktail experience. Snacks, dried fruit and fruit is available all day long if you want to snack away. And if you thirst for something other than the served drinks, there is an honesty bar where you can help yourself to other drinks as well.
